Why You Need An Innovative Comfort System Hot Water Plumbing?

A common problem we currently see in homes are complaints about having to wait fooorrrreeeevvveeerrrr for hot water. Unfortunately, it does take far too long to get hot water at certain faucets or showers in our customers’ homes. They turn the faucet on and wait. And wait. And wait. We have seen it take as long as 12 minutes in some cases. The problem is particularly apparent during the colder winter months. A customer told me the other day that their normal morning routine is to turn the hot water on at their shower, and then brush their teeth. By the time they finish brushing their teeth, most of the time the water is hot.

That seems like a ton of wasted water, don’t you think? Want to know how much exactly? Well, let’s assume that the average shower head uses about 2.5 gallons of water per minute. Then, let’s say they brush their teeth for 4 minutes. That’s 10 gallons of water wasted BEFORE they even get in the shower!! Is this happening at your home? Do you want to know why? The problem is the source of the hot water, your water heater, is normally soooo far away from certain faucets that it takes time for the hot water to actually make it to the faucet. You will notice the problem the most at faucets that are the furthest away from your water heater.

Ideally, when your home was built, the builder would have had a recirculating line installed. This is an additional hot water line, installed from your water heater to each faucet and then back to the water heater in one big circle. A pump is installed at the water heater and pumps hot water to all of your faucets, even when no one is using them. This way, once you turn on any faucet, the water is instantly hot. That’s great and all, but many homes didn’t have a recirculating system installed when their house was built. So now what?

Infinity Plumbing Services currently has a product that works very similarly to a recirculating system. Called a Comfort System, this can be installed in your home with your existing system.

Basically, we install a pump at your water heater and a mixing tee at the furthest faucet from your tank (or whichever faucet is the most inconvenient to have to wait on for hot water). On a timer, we can program the pump to turn on anytime you want.

Let’s say every day you wake up at 6:30 a.m. and are ready for a hot shower. We program the pump to come on at 6:15 a.m. so the water in the pipes is hot and ready for you.

We can also program it to turn off when you aren’t home, or no longer need instant hot water. The pump can be programmed to be turned on or off multiple times throughout the day.
